Taking the Jihad Temperature - A Gathering Storm Special Series – APPEASEMENT – Part 6

If you throw a frog into boiling water, he will jump out. If you put it in cold water and slowly turn up the heat, he will not notice the rise in temperature and will eventually boil. 

The Islamists are boiling our frog and though this blog and hundreds like it record almost daily the rise in the Jihad temperature, unless we see how far and fast the temperature has risen, we will not know how far along our boiling has progressed. 

So, the Gathering Storm will be posting only once a week but these weekly posts will take the Jihadist temperature by looking back at news and events over the last two years. Over the next several weeks in the areas of intimidation, infiltration, disinformation and those appeasers and apologists who either knowingly or unknowingly advance the Jihad agenda, the Gathering Storm will show how far our frog has been boiled. 

By seeing the boiling water around us, we can see how far the boiling has progressed. 

The good news is that we are noticing that the water is getting warmer. There is a glimmer of awareness here - a glimmer of hope there. But we have a long way to go.

Storm Track Appeasement: Vet Barred From English Police For "England" Tattoo

When a nation no longer respects itself it lowers itself to this.

PATRIOTIC squaddie Craig Briggs has been barred from joining the police — because he’s got an ENGLAND tattoo on his arm.

The Iraq veteran, 22, had wanted to be a cop since childhood and was advised to join the Army to get experience first.

But when he applied he was told: “Unfortunately, some people feel intimidated by the word England.”

Last night Craig, who has just completed 4½ years with the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, said: “I am shocked and disgusted.

"I don’t understand how it can cause offence. It is our country, after all.”

Weasel Zippers comment: (Correction, it was your country).

The recruiter’s response:

He said he was told in a phone call by the Manchester force’s senior recruitment consultant: “A family who aren’t of English origin who see England on your arm could feel you might discriminate against them.

"We live in a diverse society and try to ensure we give everybody equality.”

Right. As long as you not British. He was told he could get the tattoo altered. Perhaps if it said dhimmi instead of England?

Storm Track Appeasement: HUH !?

I don’t get this kind of reasoning by Harvard re: banning men from the gym so Muslim women can exercise while keeping their modesty intact.

Was it the demands of the Muslim students? The Muslim student association? No. Not a demand at all! Just another example of self-imposed dhimmitude.

The symbolism could not be more striking: Harvard College, an institution founded for men by men has, for the first time in its history, banned men. For six hours every week, only women will be allowed in one of the university's three major gyms--a new policy implemented in response to a request by female Muslim students, who were uncomfortable exercising around men.

Since announcing the new policy, the university has been besieged by vitriolic criticism, with some commentators characterizing the decision as "appeasement" and "capitulation" to the demands of "radical Islam." One blogger, in a post entitled "Slouching toward Constantinople," compared the decision to the Turkish conquest of that city in 1453. One commentator called it Harvard's "Islamofascist gym." Even Atlantic blogger Andrew Sullivan lamented the onslaught of "Sharia at Harvard."

So how did the policy ever get enacted?

One of the most surprising aspects of this story is how detached Harvard's Islamic community was from a decision for which it is being castigated. The impetus came from Howard Georgi, the master of one of Harvard's residential houses, who told me via e-mail that he was approached by one of the house administrators--he couldn't remember which--who had been contacted by "some of the Muslim women in the House." He then sent an e-mail to Susan B. Marine, the Director of the Harvard College Women's Center, asking her to look into the policy.

Ola Aljawhary, the student Marine asked to confirm the interest on behalf of the Muslim community, told me that she casually consulted with friends "who certainly didn't mind the idea"--which administrators took as sufficient demand to adopt the policy.

Neither Georgi nor Marine spoke directly to the women who requested the policy in the first place. The Harvard Islamic Society--the active campus organization for undergraduate Islamic affairs--did not know about the change until it was being formalized and in its final stages, according to the society's president.

This clearly wasn't Harvard "capitulating" to Islam, considering how minimally Muslim students were involved in the decision.

May I say – BULLSHIITE!! Of course they didn’t capitulate. They did it willfully and eagerly.

The Islamists have done their job of intimidation on other matters so well the cowardly PC patrol and multiculturalists quickly in knee-jerk action decided to enact a policy of dhimmitude a Muslim simply “didn't mind the idea".

Storm Track Appeasement: Arrested? Swear On A Koran and Go Free

 

I woinder just how much lower the appeasers in Britain will go. Here’s a good one.

You beat your wife according Shari’a law, you’re caught and arrested.

 

What do you do in Britain?

 

Promise not to do it again and you get off with a warning.

 

A MAN who assaulted his wife told a court how he had called on his mosque elders to help sort out his marriage difficulties.

 

Mohammed Ashraf Adam told Hyndburn magistrates he had stood in front of the elders and his wife, had taken the Koran in his hand and pledged never to hit his wife again. And defence solicitor Roger Pickles said his client was well aware that if he ever broke his promise the Mosque would come down on him "like a ton of bricks".

 

OOOO… I’m scared now. If you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in buying.

 

He was made subject to community supervision for 24 months with a condition he attends the domestic violence programme and pay £250 compensation and £150 costs.

Adam told the court how he had gone before the Mosque committee and confessed what he had done before telling his wife, in the presence of the elders, that he would never hit her again.

 

"I turned to the elders for help because it is in the Koran that a man cannot hit his wife."

 

HUH ???!!!

 

The poor man believes his own Muslim taquia.

 

And speaking of taquia, it seems Muslims 4 Ken is distraught over some campaign tactics that are being used in the London Mayoral election.

 

Ken Livingstone supporters are claiming that Boris Johnson would ban the Koran in adverts in the capital's Bengali-language press. The claim is one of a number of last-minute tactics - condemned by Mr Johnson today as "poison" and "desperate" - being used by Mr Livingstone's backers to sway crucial votes.

 

The "dirty tricks" were uncovered in a Standard investigation which also found that:

Bengali-language leaflets are being handed out at mosques saying that Mr Johnson "hates Muslims" and it is a "moral duty" for Muslims to support Mr Livingstone.

 

Moral duty?

 

The Bengali-language leaflet, a copy of which has been obtained by the Standard, was handed out at Friday prayers last week at mosques in Brick Lane and other Bengali parts of the East End. According to an independent translation, it says: "Boris has expressed his hatred against Islam, the Koran and the Muslims... It is Muslims' moral duty to support Ken." The other side of the leaflet is in English. It carries a less incendiary message and makes no attacks on Mr Johnson.

 

The leaflet was produced by the British Muslim Initiative, whose offshoot, Muslims 4 Ken, was recently exposed by the Standard as involving a declared supporter of suicide bombing. It carries no imprint for a printer as required by electoral law.

 

Not surprised. I wonder if good ol’ dhimmi Ken realized when his compatriots come to power, he will lose his head over it.

Storm Track Appeasement: US Detention Has Its Pluses

Weasel Zippers did an accurate congruence of the behavior of the American Criminal Liberties Union – the ACLU.

On the one hand, the ACLU is all in a tizzy over the U.S. military holding about 500 juveniles suspected of being "unlawful enemy combatants" in detention centers in Iraq while on the other, detainees in Iraq are refusing to leave there cushy surroundings.

So, I wonder what the ACLU is bitchin’ about?

First the snit over the Iraqi juveniles.

A total of 2,500 youths under the age of 18 have been detained for periods of up to a year or more since President Bush's anti-terrorism campaign began in 2002. Almost all those who have been detained are in Iraq. About 10 are currently being held in Afghanistan.

The ACLU and other civil liberties groups have denounced the practice as abhorrent. And they say it's in violation of U.S. treaty obligations.

The majority of those being held are believed to be 16 or 17 years old. The U.S. claims the juveniles being held were helping insurgents.

So how does the ACLU explain this?

An increasing number of Iraqi detainees are refusing to leave detention centres despite being eligible for release because they want to complete studies begun behind bars, a US general said on Sunday.

"In the last three or four months we have begun seeing detainees asking to stay in detention, usually to complete their studies," Major General Douglas Stone told a news conference in Baghdad.

The US military offers a wide range of educational programmes to the 23,000 or so detainees -- adults and juveniles -- being held at its two detention facilities, Camp Cropper near Baghdad's international airport and Camp Bucca near the southern port city of Basra.

Some parents of juvenile detainees, too, have asked that their children remain behind bars so they can continue their schooling, said Stone, the commanding general for US detainee operations in Iraq.

Storm Track Appeasement: FOUND- Recent Cases of Dhimmitude

It would come to no surprise that Britain is vying for the dhimmi award of the decade. Here are to examples.

Take a patriotic teenage motorist, who probably is a soccer fan and wants to show his support for his country, and has the misfortune of being stopped by a dhimmi official – a policeman – on routine patrol.

Its seems the youth was more of a threat to the community’s peace and safety than the local thugs that roam the area - at least to the policemen.

A few days ago (Friday, May 23rd) 18 year-old Ben Smith was stopped, in a routine check by a police officer, while driving his Vauxhall Corsa to his home in Melksham, Wiltshire. The officer found nothing amiss, but noticed an England flag on the parcel shelf (which Mr. Smith used to cover his music system from potential thieves) and ordered him to remove it.

He saw the flag and said it was racist towards immigrants and if I refused to take it down I would get a £30 fine.

And who, pray tell, are the sensitive immigrants the cops was referring to? I’ll give you one guess. So who’s country does Britain belong to?

Next we have a prison guard who thought I cool t name hi dog Allah. One complaint from a Muslim prisoner and – well you know. He was moved to a less ‘sensitive’ job.

Though Langridge insisted that his labrador was called Ali, and not Allah, a Muslim inmate filed an official complaint against the the dog handler, and he was promptly shifted.

One Belmarsh officer said: "This is political correctness gone mad."

elmarsh houses some of Britain's most notorious extremist Muslims, including hook-handed Abu Hamza. It also has the highest proportion of Muslim prisoners of any jail in Britain.

"Muslims don't like dogs and it would have been an insult to their religion if the dog had been called Allah, which is sacred to them. It is disgraceful the way the management kow-towed to them despite Chris's denial," The Sun quoted a source, as saying.

I have another word for it – disgusting.

But not to be left out, our grand dhimmi of a former President, Jimmah Carter, would not be outdone in the contest for the dhimmi award last week.

Former US President Jimmy Carter urged Washington to establish friendly ties with Tehran, reiterating the need for his country to resume trade relations with Iran, which he described as a "rational" nation.

Speaking at the Hay Festival yesterday, Carter also suggested the US should provide nuclear power technology and fuel to Iran as a show of goodwill.

And the traitorous Carter goes one step further. He used the confidential knowledge he has from his Presidency to ‘out’ Israel’s nuke arsenal.

Israel has 150 nuclear weapons in its arsenal, former President Jimmy Carter said yesterday, while arguing that the US should talk directly to Iran to persuade it to drop its nuclear ambitions.

His remark, made at the Hay-on-Wye festival which promotes current affairs books and literature, is startling because Israel has never admitted having nuclear weapons, let alone how many, although the world assumes their existence. Nor do US officials deviate in public from that Israeli line.

The man is mentally ill and should be put away.

Storm Track Appeasement: Dhimmi Mayor Learns Her Lesson

This woman should be thankful that the Islamists are not in power yet in Britain. If so, she would have gotten more than a snub.

The Departing Mayor of Kirklees launched a blistering attack on a group of orthodox Muslims for refusing to pose with her in photographs. Her comments came in her departing speech as she handed over mayoral duties to Coun Karam Hussain (Lib Dem, Dewsbury West).

In her tearful speech to the full council and members of the public at Huddersfield Town Hall on Wednesday, Coun Calvert said she had checked whether the invitation was really for her rather than deputy mayor Coun Karam Hussain, but organisers insisted she was welcome.

She said: "I attended this event and was horrified to be left on my own in a room full of people that I didn't know. The press wanted to take photographs of the group with the mayor.

"The photographer was told in no uncertain terms that 'we don't have photographs taken with women.'

"That was bad enough but then to stand on my own for a further 15 minutes while photographs were being taken of all the other guests in the room was very upsetting."

That’s the reward of dhimmitude, Mayor of Kirklees.

In her early years as councillor, Coun Calvert was chairwoman of the Women's Rights Committee and helped to launch the council's domestic violence policy.

She said: "I started my life in politics trying to even out the injustices of women's rights, anti-poverty measures and to make for a more equal society.

"These actions have made me realise that we are no further down that road today than we were in 1992 when I became a councillor.

And what the hell were you doing for women’s rights when Muslim females were forced into marriages, made to wear veils and tents and killed for the honor of the family?

Hey! Dhimmi Mayor Livingston! Do you get the picture yet? You’re turn will come. If you’re lucky you will be just snubbed and not lose your head when the Islamists take power.

Storm Track Appeasement: Liberals – Stuck On Stupid

From the “Liberals Don’t Have a Clue” department.

The stupidity – and hypocrisy of the liberal mind has no bounds. Most the stupidity comes from inability of liberals match cause with effect.

Two cases in point.

First, if human rights are being abused, who do you call to investigate? Why some one that knows the ins and outs of human rights abuse – the ones who do it on a daily basis.

Hamas authorities in Gaza should investigate the recent abduction and apparent torture of three men by the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, Human Rights Watch said today. The authorities should hold accountable any individuals responsible for serious abuses.

I can see the befuddlement of Hamas’s face. Abuse? What abuse?

And of course, if some poor Gaza students can’t continue their free American education because their fellow Palestinians are shooting rockets daily in to Israel creating a bureaucratic problem, it’s Israel’s fault.

Hadeel Abu Kawik was supposed to spend next year in the United States on the prestigious Fulbright scholarship program, but now it appears she will remain trapped in the Gaza Strip by an Israeli blockade.

In all, seven Gaza students lost their grants. The decision was made because they would not be able to get exit visas from Israel, according to State Department Spokesman Tom Casey.

And finally we see the cowardly side of the liberal mind always willing to demand their rights – unless those protests threatens them with bodily harm, of course.

Desperate to flaunt their "bravery" with their controversial depictions of Jews suffering in concentration camps and highly sexualised images of children, the artists Jake and Dinos Chapman have admitted to Mandrake that there is one subject area that remains off-limits.

Jake says they would not be prepared to touch Islam.

"It’s a very difficult and sensitive issue and we wouldn’t see it in our remit," he said at the private view of If Hitler Had Been a Hippy How Happy Would We Be at the White Cube gallery.

Their excuse for the remit of Islam?

"That makes me want to shut up about Islam. If you look at how badly we’ve dealt with Islamic issues in this country, we don’t feel we could address it.”

When the headmaster of the Christian Fellowship school in Liverpool complained about the brothers’ Bad Art for Bad People exhibition at Tate Liverpool, which included sexual images, scenes of violence and dismemberment, Jake threatened to "ban all Christians" from attending.

Ah… the courage of their convictions.

Storm Track Appeasement: Preemptive Appeasement

It’s bad enough that our culture has to buckle under and appease a Muslim who feels that something our pluralistic society is an affront to him or her, but what really gets my goat is when we preemptively appease Muslims without the slightest complaint from them.

The Rougblog has the story.

A proactive elementary principal of the Portland school district in Oregon has sprung into action to prevent any further offense and humiliation to be suffered by Muslims over the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. How? She yanked it from an end of year school program.

PORTLAND, Ore. - The exclusion of the Pledge of Allegiance from a southwest Portland elementary school's ceremony has proved upsetting for a local mom.

"I was sad," said parent Briana Reese. "The flag was sitting up there, you know. Two of the kids went up and they said 'Everybody rise,' and we rose, and I thought for just a second 'Oh yeah, we're going to put our hands on our hearts and we're going to salute the flag' - but no."

The pledge was instead replaced with a singing version of the preamble to the Constitution.

KATU tried repeatedly to talk with Principal Pam Wilson but got no results. However, in an e-mail response to Reese's questions, she explained the pledge was removed "out of respect for the diversity of religious faiths." Some parents support the principal's decision.

"I think it's nice to be trying to consider everybody," said parent Teri Price. "But I don't think she necessarily meant it to be that controversial. I think she just wanted a change."

Sure just a change. Patriotism can be soooo….boring.

The Portland School District said there were no complaints about the pledge. They said they have little say in how principals handle end of the year ceremonies at individual schools.

So, next year a principal can have the student stand up and do a ‘sieg heil’? Now that’s change we can believe in.

"The Pledge contains the words, 'under God' and we have many Muslim families here. So out of respect for the diversity of religious faiths practiced by our school community (parents and families) we decided that this year the students would memorize and sing the Preamble to the Constitution.

So, it’s true. Muslims do not believe in God. At least not our God, right Principal Wilson? I see you agree.

Storm Track Appeasement: France Gives Leftists Wet Dream

It’s a known and successful strategy used by Lefties and Islamic appeases. If they don’t like what they read on the Net they petition for it to be removed. Now they’re getting that strategy government sanction in France under the guise of an anti-porn crusade.

The French state and internet service providers have struck a deal to block sites carrying child pornography or content linked to terrorism or racial hatred, Interior Minister Michel Alliot-Marie announced on Tuesday.

The plan, part of a larger effort to fight cybercriminality, is to go into effect in September when a "black list" will be built up based on input from internet users who signal sites dealing with the offensive material, the minister said.

Under the French plan, internet users, via a platform, will be able to signal inappropriate sites and the state, receiving the complaints in real time, will then decide whether the sites are to go on a so-called black list to be passed on to internet service providers to enforce site blocks.

Yeah. And you know the lefties will signal every anti-jihadi site they can find. But that can’t happen here – right?

The announcement comes on the heels of a similar deal in the United States, also announced Tuesday. There, three service providers - Verizon, Sprint and TimeWarner Cable - have agreed with New York state officials to block child pornography sites nationwide.

It’s all about the children. Good. Now let’s block those jihadi sites and those who run them. Those that our children will have to fight some day. 

Those are examples of the rising Jihad temperature of for this week. When seen in groups like this, the slow boil becomes obvious.
