What This Blog Is About
"It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time."
Winston Churchill
So we’re at war. At least that’s what we’re told. But do we really believe it? And are we at war with the right enemy? Unfortunately, no.
The administration and pundits that talk of war can not bring themselves to identify the real enemy or correctly define the war at all; frightened by the prospects of a clash of civilizations – a Holy War. Others will not even conceive of the threat against us lest it run counter to their ideological or politically correct beliefs. Those find comfort in this confusing struggle by believing the threat is nothing more than a band of brutal criminals and should be countered with civil rather than military action. They do not, or will not believe the real ideological objectives of militant Islam that confronts us. These elements of the Left think we should be conducting a criminal investigation. That it’s just a small minority of radical Islamists who should be caught and prosecuted for their crimes. On the other hand, the Right thinks we’re involved in a war against terror – they are both wrong.
So the reason for this blog.
This blog is about a Gathering Storm – the prelude to the real war, not the war itself. How the war will be fought and under what terms it will commence is yet to happen – and no, it didn’t start with 9-11. In more than one way, we are in a similar time as the 1930s. But this blog is not the first to find comparisons between the infiltration and intimidation tactics of militant Islam and Nazi Germany. In September of 2005, Tony Blankly wrote a three part series in the Washington Times comparing the Islamic threat of today to the Nazis of the 1930s.
Blankly writes that radical Islam or Islamic fascism, has all the advantages the Nazis had in
This blog will not concern itself with the ongoing ideological debates on whether Islam is this or that, what was practiced then now or any other times, or what interpretation of the Islam and their motives is correct or not. Let those chips fall where they may. That debate will cease when the war arrives – succinct, clear and with a focused objective - as it did for Europe on
What’s important now is to expose the events of recent history and how they are contributing the Gathering Storm of the coming war and perhaps, just perhaps, by understanding them, we may be able to temper, though not prevent, the final struggle when it comes. Yes, the military experts have defined this war as something unique and different from those fought in the past. I don't agree.
The Islamists are using an age old tactic of guerrilla warfare - its use of the Viet Cong by the North Vietnamese is a recent example. We call it terrorism today. But the objective is the same. Weaken the opposition using surrogates by hitting them where it’s difficult or impossible to respond. Then follow up with conventional forces from the host nations that supported the insurgency – not just in
The real war will ensue once the host nations feel it’s time to commit their organized military combatants in a final push to defeat the free world – or if some event forces the free world’s hand against the host nations. But that’s in the future.
To understand the storm that’s gathering around us, we need to put its elements into some context. For this we turn to history. The two major conflicts of the 20th century were World War II and the Cold War. The enemy confronting the free world used a ‘softening up’ process that was very successful in lulling the free world into hopeless inaction. This softening up process was used by Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan to great success. For when war finally came, the free world was caught unawares and at a dangerous disadvantage. The worldwide communist movement of the Cold War learned from Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan and used similar tactics to advance their ideology.
But for our purposes here, we will use the architects of this modern day ‘softening up’ strategy to expose the threatening events that make up the Gathering Storm. We will compare the events of the 1930s with today’s events and how they easily fit into a similar context of today. The two periods, the 1930s and today, and the softening up of the Free World as a prelude to war, will be followed in the following areas.
Infiltration
Intimidation
Disinformation
Appeasement
All these softening up elements make up the Gathering Storm of war will become an ongoing diary in theis blog to expose this softening up progress as reported in today’s media, the Internet and the blogeshere.
In addition, I'll post from time to time information on the shape of the war to come under the Winds of War.
Finally, Ememy Mine, will track the modern day Leftist behavior in this blog and how it threatens the iconic ideology of Islam and show why, in their world, Islam feels threatened and perhaps we should show some restraint in the expression of our freedoms and temper it with more responsibility.
As Santayana said, “Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”
It’s not the government that makes war in a democracy, but the people – and the people are asleep in the free democracies today, lulled into inaction by a ‘softening up’ process of our enemy.

The much larger threat is from within. The Military Industrial Complex.
The U.S. Department of Defense, headquartered in the Pentagon, is one of the most massive organizations on the planet, with net annual operating costs of $635 billion, assets worth $1.3 trillion, liabilities of $1.9 trillion and more that 2.9 million military and civilian personnel as of fiscal year 2005.
It is difficult to convey the complexity of the way DOD works to someone who has not experienced it. This is a massive machine with so many departments and so much beaurocracy that no president, including Bush totally understands it.
Presidents, Congressmen, Cabinet Members and Appointees project a knowledgeable demeanor but they are spouting what they are told by career people who never go away and who train their replacements carefully. These are military and civil servants with enormous collective power, armed with the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Defense Industrial Security Manuals, compartmentalized classification structures and "Rice Bowls" which are never mixed.
Our society has slowly given this power structure its momentum which is constant and extraordinarily tough to bend. The cost to the average American is exhorbitant in terms of real dollars and bad decisions. Every major power structure member in the Pentagon's many Washington Offices and Field locations in the US and Overseas has a counterpart in Defense Industry Corporate America. That collective body has undergone major consolidation in the last 10 years.
What used to be a broad base of competitive firms is now a few huge monoliths, such as Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and Boeing and SAIC. If you would like to read how they control our government, please see:

Government oversight committees are carefully stroked. Sam Nunn and others who were around for years in military and policy oversight roles have been cajoled, given into on occasion but kept in the dark about the real status of things until it is too late to do anything but what the establishment wants. This still continues - with increasing high technology and potential for abuse.
Please examine the following link to testimony given by Franklin C. Spinney before Congress in 2002. It provides very specific information from a whistle blower who is still blowing his whistle (Look him up in your browser and you get lots of feedback) Frank spent the same amount of time as I did in the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) but in government quarters. His job in government was a similar role to mine in defense companies. Frank's emphasis in this testimony is on the money the machine costs us. It is compelling and it is noteworthy that he was still a staff analyst at the Pentagon when he gave this speech. I still can't figure out how he got his superior's permission to say such blunt things. He was extremely highly respected and is now retired.

The brick wall I often refer to is the Pentagon's own arrogance. It will implode by it's own volition, go broke, or so drastically let down the American people that it will fall in shambles. Rest assured the day of the implosion is coming. The machine is out of control.
