Taking the Jihad Temperature - A Gathering Storm Special Series – APPEASEMENT – Part 5

If you throw a frog into boiling water, he will jump out. If you put it in cold water and slowly turn up the heat, he will not notice the rise in temperature and will eventually boil.

The Islamists are boiling our frog and though this blog and hundreds like it record almost daily the rise in the Jihad temperature, unless we see how far and fast the temperature has risen, we will not know how far along our boiling has progressed.

So, the Gathering Storm will be posting only once a week but these weekly posts will take the Jihadist temperature by looking back at news and events over the last two years. Over the next several weeks in the areas of intimidationinfiltrationdisinformation and those appeasers and apologists who either knowingly or unknowingly advance the Jihad agenda, the Gathering Storm will show how far our frog has been boiled.

By seeing the boiling water around us, we can see how far the boiling has progressed.

The good news is that we are noticing that the water is getting warmer. There is a glimmer of awareness here - a glimmer of hope there. But we have a long way to go.

Here’s this week’s look back at the rising Jihad temperature of APPEASEMENT !! And remember – this is just a sampling of Jihadist Appeasement. More to follow.

Storm Track Appeasement: What You Get When Appeasing Islamists

“Appeasers believe that if you keep on throwing steaks to a tiger, the tiger will become a vegetarian. Heywood Broun

So, Spain? How’s that appeasement working out? Not so good, huh?

It seems that appeasers never learn. Spain sided with the Islamists when they voted in a government that withdrew Spain’s support for the war in Iraq and other dreamed up crimes against the dominance of fundamentalist Islam.

Like the appeasers of the 1930s, they fed the crocodile hoping it would eat them last. But it seems the crocodile’s appetite has grown considerable and Spain is once again on the menu.

Islamic radicals may have been plotting attacks in Barcelona, Spain's Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said on Saturday, after police found bomb-making materials and arrested 14 South Asians.

Rubalcaba told a news conference civil guard police found explosives and other equipment during raids on five addresses in Spain's second city, and arrested 12 Pakistanis and two Indians after receiving information from its own and other European intelligence agencies.

Pakistan again. Has a light bulb lit up yet in the EU? When terrorism is involved, Pakistanis are often involved. Gee, you think they might restrict certain nationalities from immigrating? Nah – too logical.

With less than two months before Spain's next national poll, Rubalcaba said security services remained on high alert.

Hmmm…Could they have been planning a terrorist attack to sway the election their way and extend the Spanish appeasers power another few years? It worked before.

Storm Track Appeasement: Muslim Inmate Suit Dismissed

Let’s not hold you breathe but it seems we’ve had a minor victory in pushing back the appeasement of Muslims.

Muslim inmates at our prisons have been stirring up trouble because their religious wishes have not been catered to. They’re suing the US government over the disappearance of copies of the Quran and a prayer rug.

But it seems at least one US government branch has grown a spine. The US Supreme Court. At least until the dhimmis get Shari’a law as the law of the land.

The U.S. Supreme Court said Tuesday that a Muslim inmate cannot sue the government over the disappearance of the prisoner's copies of the Quran and a prayer rug.

Abdus-Shahid M.S. Ali says the missing books and rug reflect widespread harassment against Muslim inmates in federal, state and local prisons stemming from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. (Ali is serving a sentence of 20 years to life in prison for committing first-degree murder in the District of Columbia.)

Besides the two copies of the Quran and the prayer rug, Ali is missing stamps and other personal items worth $177 that he says never showed up after his transfer from a federal penitentiary in Atlanta to Big Sandy penitentiary at Inez, Ky., in 2003. He said the last time he saw the now-missing items was when he turned them over to a prison supervisor in Atlanta.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that Ali had no case and the law suit should be thrown out. Justice Clarence Thomas, writing for a majority that cut across ideological grounds, agreed with the lower courts. Thomas said the law "forecloses lawsuits against the United States for the unlawful detention of property by 'any,' not just 'some,' law enforcement officers". Chief Justice John Roberts, Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and, surprisingly, Ruth Bader Ginsburg joined Thomas. The dissenters were Justices Stephen Breyer, Anthony Kennedy, David Souter and John Paul Stevens.

Justice Kennedy, often the 'swing vote', spoke for the dissenters: "The seizure of property by an officer raises serious concerns for the liberty of our people and the act should not be read to permit appropriation of property without a remedy". Once again, Kennedy showed he cannot be relied upon to make the correct decision in cases before the court; no conservative is he.

But this part of the article takes the cake.

Of course the primary issue Ali based his suit on is that because he has "practiced his faith to the fullest" he has been subjected to prison officials repeatedly confiscating and destroying his legal and religious property. Ali said he has been harassed for his religious beliefs "year after year" in both the District of Columbia Department of Corrections and the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.

Let’s see. He’s being harassed for his belief not because he is a murderer. It’s always the religion. They’re always the victim.

Storm Track Appeasement: The Result of Muslim Appeasement

We ask again. For the umpteenth time. Where are the feminists defending Muslim women from abuse – even death?

A GIRL of 15 was tricked into a "telephone marriage" ceremony to a Sheffield man with a mental age of five in a ceremony recognized by sharia (Islamic law).

When the girl arrived from Pakistan expecting to meet the handsome man she had been shown in a photograph, she found that he was 40 years old, unemployed and disabled.

To make matters worse, her mother-in-law decided to exploit her attractive looks by forcing her into prostitution.

The family invited men to the family home to rape her before she managed to escape to the police by bolting through the front door. She was taken into care and now lives in a refuge.

The case is highlighted in a report by the Centre for Social Cohesion, which has found that policemen, councillors and taxi drivers are turning a blind eye or even conniving in enforcing the Asian community's strict "moral code" on young women.

Assimilation attempts, of course, are solving this problem – right? Wrong. In Britain, assimilation means appeasement for it’s sustained by third and fourth-generation immigrants.

The report, Crimes of the Community, claims the problem is no longer an issue of first-generation migrants importing attitudes from "back home" but is "indigenous and self-perpetuating" because it is sustained by third and fourth-generation immigrants.

The study reveals the case of Saamiya, a 16-year-old girl from Birmingham, whose parents were so angry when they discovered she had a boyfriend that they flew her to Pakistan and told her they had arranged a marriage two hours before the ceremony.

"During the Islamic ceremony my dad was standing behind me with one hand on my shoulder and with his other hand he had a gun which was pointed at my back so that I didn't say 'no'," Saamiya said.

"To everyone else it looked natural — he was just standing there stroking my shoulder — but just before he had told me that he would shoot me if I didn't go through with it."

We call that a shotgun wedding in reverse.

She was rescued from Pakistan by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's forced marriage unit and now lives in a refuge in the Midlands, but has been told that she will be murdered by her brothers. The girl told investigators: "I haven't been back home since then. My brothers say that they want to take me back to Pakistan so they can kill me basically. They'll just pay the police there to keep quiet... I don't want to be killed. I'm only 16. I want to live my life."

And as we’ve seen, the ongoing attempt to avoid offending cultural sensibilities is more important than protecting young girl’s lives.

Karma Nirvana, a support group in Derby, claims it asked local schools last year to display warning posters produced by the forced marriage unit. It said the schools refused.

Derby council last week denied that the group had made the requests, but the prime minister has pledged to investigate reports that the government unit cannot get its advice posters into schools for fear of upsetting local opinion.

According to the report, women who go to the authorities to seek protection have been tracked down through their mobile phones or even by leaks of confidential information from government databases.

Jasvinder Sanghera, director of Karma Nirvana, said that police who find girls who have escaped from their families often simply return them to their parents where they face further abuse, with some Asian officers actually colluding in crimes. Sanghera is taking a case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission of a girl who fled her family but was kidnapped by relatives and held prisoner. She claims that a police officer tipped off the family where the girl was staying.

Political correctness trumps human life in Britain these days.

Storm Track Appeasement: Ready for the New Islamic Republic of Afghanistan?

It sickens me every time I think of how the Bush administration was either stupid or sold their democratic principles down the river. Bush and the neocons have beaten the drum to death that the only way to stop terrorism is to democratize Islamic countries. But what they have done is only appease the Islamists and squandered the victory we had.

As many have pointed out, we have already lost the war goals of Iraq and Afghanistan when both voted into their constitution that these countries would be an Islamic state and be ruled by Islamic law. Now that decision is showing its ugly head.

A Muslim in Afghanistan who stood up for women’s rights not only was arrested but faces the death penalty.

Sayed Pervez Kambaksh has been sentenced by a religious court to death for downloading and circulating a tract that criticised interpreting that the Koran supported the suppression of women. He did this at his university where he is studying journalism. Despite the widespread international condemnation the Afghan Senate has rejected non Islamic views on the matter - and expressed that the secular supreme court should not intervene in the matter though constitutionally he has the right of appeal.

And the grounds for this? What say you President Bush?

Aminuddin Muzafari, the first secretary of the houses of parliament, said: “People should realise that as we are representatives of an Islamic country therefore we can never tolerate insults to reverences of Islamic religion.”

So much for western democracy in Afghanistan.

Now after six years my concern is that we have not far advanced the rule of law that protects the liberty of people from their governments. Of course the Afghan people have a right to their own constitution and the law that they wish to be governed by.

But they do not have the right to expect our troops to die to defend such a constitution, or protect such a government that would allow this punishment on it’s citizens for blasphemy. Either we help build a democratic regime through investment and the blood of our fellow citizens - if that help is not appreciated or the ruling government that holds sway does not appreciate these values we hold dear, then we have no moral obligation towards them.

They have become the enemies of reason, showing an intolerance that Al Qaeda wrought on an international stage. May the international community send a clear signal that in this case human rights matter - and the Afghan government can expect no favours should it allow this student’s execution.

If you want to show support for Sayed Pervez Kambaksh, add your weight to the campaign by urging President Karzai’s government to demand that his life be spared. Sign the e-petition at www.independent.co.uk/petition.

Storm Track Appeasement: Counter-Terrorism Doublespeak

You would think that a counter-terrorism strategy would be aggressive and work to help police seek out and disrupt terrorism activities. No so in Britain where political correctness trumps common sense. This reminds me of John Kerry’s statement that if he was elected he would fight a kinder gentler war on terror.

A new counter-terrorism phrasebook has been sent out to Whitehall offices, police forces and local councils.

It aims to guide them on how to speak to Muslim communities about the threat of extremism without alienating them.

According to The Guardian newspaper, which has obtained a copy of the pamphlet, it advises against use of phrases like "jihadi fundamentalist" and "Islamist extremist" which might tend to suggest the authorities regard the whole Muslim community as responsible for the terror threat.

The semantic bulls**t continues.

Instead, it suggests that words such as "violent extremism", "criminal murderers" and "thugs" should be used, to avoid any suggestion of an explicit link between Islam and terror.

Remember the new phrase proposed by the PMs in Britain? Islamic extremism is now to be called ‘anti-Islamic activity’. So, in WWII was fought not against the German Nazis but those conducting anti-German activity.

The document warns that the use of concepts such as "the struggle for values" or "a battle of ideas" plays into the hands of those who wish to frame the issue in terms of a clash of civilisations between Islam and the West. A more productive approach is to stress the idea of shared values, it suggests.

Ah yes. The ugly head of multiculturalism raise its head again. If you want shared values you promote pluralism that creates a foundation of values that all groups commit to and not divisive multiculturalism.

And this phrasebook is supposed to prevent terrorism. Sheeez!

Meanwhile….

Storm Track Appeasement: The Fundamental Errors of Liberalism

Over at Renew America, Dennis Campbell mused about the two fatal errors of Liberalism. The misunderstanding of human nature and the inability to learn from history.

The record is long and disgusting on how Liberals can not learn from history always thinking that this particular problem with a particular tyrant or social issue is different this time. Or in other words, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing’s over and over expecting different results.

But what about human nature? Where’s the error in their ways with that?

The answer lies in that catchword Liberals love to use. PROGRESSIVE. That means we should all strive to reach an ideal, a perfect world – defined by the Liberal. And while we’re at it, create by hook or by crook – particularly through legislation – the perfect human.

Liberals are always chasing the fantasy of human perfectibility, which influences so many aspects of their policies.

Liberals believe that if we give a powerful central government enough resources and authority, wielded by intelligent people of good will, virtually all problems and endeavors of human society can have happy outcomes — poverty, education, racial disharmony, crime, affordable housing, universal health care.

Conservatives, on the other hand, recognize that government is composed of enormously fallible people, weak and prone to doing things in their own interest, and not in the interest of others. The larger the government, the more these problems are magnified.

These lessons are never absorbed by liberals, it seems. They remain convinced that negotiation and appeasement will win over despots and savages. This leads them to a fatal conclusion regarding Islam: That we can appease and negotiate our way to a peaceful outcome with what may be the most violent religion in the world, indeed, in history.

Liberals should take heed to an old Irish proverb. “Lord, give me the knowledge of the things I can change and the courage to accept the things I can’t - and the wisdom to know the difference.’

Things happen in history because they are ready to happen. This is a hard thing to accept sometimes. But even though the ideas of freedom, democracy, the belief in one God, were thought of long before they were accepted and dominant in the world, they could not be accepted until the time was right. We were taught in school about ecology - how we are all interconnected to the natural world and the natural world is interconnected with us. Well, there is another kind of ecology - the ecology of ideas.

Take the dinosaurs. They were the rulers of the earth for hundreds of millions of years. Our distant ancestors - the mammals - were nothing but little warm blooded shrews hiding in the underbrush waiting for their time in the sun. As long as the dinosaurs ruled, we would have to wait our turn on the evolutionary stage. But one day the ecology changed. The environment turned against the dinosaurs and they became extinct. This gave our ancestors the chance to evolve and become what we are today.

Ideas act in the same manner. Though many ideas exist, only a few achieve dominance because they adapt best to the environment. Take democracy for example. The Greek culture had it long before the Roman Empire came into being. And yet, it didn’t have a chance to evolve until almost two thousand years later. The environment of ideas would not support it. What I’m saying is that you can’t force history. World peace is a great idea but you can’t have it until everyone’s needs that prevent peace from happening are met worldwide.

Your can’t have a universal human ideal until everyone can attain that ideal. And you can’t have a perfect game until there are perfect people. And, I’m sorry to say, that ain’t gonna happen. Perfect people is and illusion just likes Utopia.

Utopia is a direction not a destination. It can never be reached as long as we have imperfect people. And imperfect people are a good thing to have. If you attempt to remove all the ‘undesirable’ aspects of a human being you will find that they are connected to human desirable aspects. I’m reminded of the Star Trek episode, The Enemy Within, when Kirk’s personality was split in two – the ‘good side’ and the ‘bad side’.

Kirk is split into two alter-egos, the evil one (hostility, lust, violence) of which arrives unnoticed a few minutes after the good Kirk (compassion, love, tenderness) after the crew has left the transporter room. It is quickly surmised that neither Kirk can survive for long in his separated state.

It is a philosophical exploration of the complex duality of man and an illustration of how his good and evil sides taken together define his very being.

The 'good' Kirk, doesn't have any real resolve as a leader until he is rejoined with his bad elements.

The desirable and undesirable parts of our personalities, our very being, are two sides of the same coin. We need both to function as rational beings. Remove one or the other and we either are left feeble and indecisive or barbaric and feral.

It’s best that the Progressives in their quest to create the perfect human being leave well enough alone for they tamper with the very basics of human nature. The answer is not elimination of our ‘bad’ side but the integration of it.

Storm Track Appeasement: Words, Not Guns to Be Used Against Terrorists

So everyone’s a flutter over the recent elections in Pakistan where moderate candidates had won the day. The new ruling party, expected to lead the new government of Pakistan's terrorism-racked North West Frontier Province, plans to follow a radical new policy.

Taking on the extremists that live in their midst and put an end to Al-Qaeda’s control over the Northern Provinces? Chase OBL out of Pakistan and into the waiting arms of our troops in Afghanistan?

BUZZ!! WRONG!!

The new radical policy is… Wait for it…

Opening up peace talks with Islamic militants linked to al-Qaeda.

The Awami National Party, which won the most seats in last week's election in the Frontier province that borders Afghanistan, would abandon the largely military approach of the regime of President Pervez Musharraf that was heavily backed by Washington.

"The war on terror has failed," said Haji Mohammad Adeel, secretary-general of the ANP, in an interview at the party headquarters. "There should be no war. In world history, not a single war against guerrillas was successful. Only dialogue can solve these problems."

Yep. Makes sense to me. Just surrender. Nothing else worked.

Mr. Adeel said that his party would work through the jirga tradition of the Pashtun people, who are the main ethnic group in the Frontier and neighbouring Afghanistan. Jirgas are meetings of tribal elders to solve problems and dispense justice. He said the new ANP-led government would start a dialogue with the Pakistani Taliban based in the country's tribal belt, known as the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, a strip that lies between the Frontier Province and Afghanistan.

Once the jirga system was established and trust built, the 80,000-plus Pakistani troops currently in FATA, fighting militants and securing the Afghan border, would be pulled out, Mr. Adeel said. He suggested that the Afghan government should also pursue talks with the Taliban there.

"The basic problem is the Pakistan army, the Pakistani establishment and the Americans. You can't fight for another 20 years."

My God.

Storm Track Appeasement: Liberals Still Believe in Their Fantasy

“A recurrent theme of Nick Cohen's writing concerns the idea that there is some monolithic 'Islamic fundamentalist' threat to 'the West' and its universalist ideas of freedom of expression and speech, human rights and tolerance of ethnic minorities and that this is co-ordinated by a rogue regimes, terror cells, and radical Imams. One of the words used by Cohen to describe any perceived concession to such a threat is termed 'appeasement' and which he has developed at length in his book What's Left: How Liberals Lost Their Way.”

This bit of utter miscomprehension of the threat posed by Islamo-fascism, radical Islam, Islamism, Islamists, or what ever the word of the day is that we Islamophobes use is a perfect example of how the left refuses to see the truth that is right in front of their eyes.

They come up with all kinds of excuses for those that seek to force a 7th century society on our 21st century civilization calling those that try t enlighten the mental numbness of the left to the day-in and day-out examples of the threat.

Case in point.

The fact that there is not necessarily any united solidarity among Islamic states such as Iran , Al Qaida, Hizbollah, Hamas, and other Islamist organisation to present an international threat similar to Nazi Germany, a heavily industrialised power in the centre of Europe, does not seem to concern Cohen.

Oh really? No united front? Then how about this?

"We do not worship Iran, we worship Allah. For patriotism is another name for paganism. I say let this land [Iran] burn. I say let this land go up in smoke, provided Islam emerges triumphant in the rest of the world." - Ayatollah Khomeini

There are no different countries or organizations in Islam. It’s a belief in a theocratic ideology that is a throwback to the 7th century. Here’s another example of the supposed disconnect between Islamists.

RABAT, Morocco - They are politicians and businessmen, bureaucrats and pharmacists, a police commander and a TV journalist. Police arrested them and seized an arsenal in nationwide raids last month, the biggest crackdown in Morocco since suicide bombings killed 45 people in Casablanca five years ago.

"It's a real mix of things, kind of bizarre, but if everything is confirmed I think it is a big, big affair," said Claude Moniquet, director of a Brussels think tank who works with the Moroccan government.

"This is a long-term network. If it were just for an attack today, assembling makeshift explosives costs a lot less," Benmoussa said. "But we are dealing with the logic of a long-term project with a strategy of infiltration and subversion."

How does that saying go? It’s the ideology, Stupid.

Those are examples of the rising Jihad temperature of for this week. When seen in groups like this, the slow boil becomes obvious.

Next week we return to a look back at the rising Jihad temperature of Islamist Intimidation!!
