Taking the Jihad Temperature - A Gathering Storm Special Series – DISINFORMATION Part 2

If you throw a frog into boiling water, he will jump out. If you put it in cold water and slowly turn up the heat, he will not notice the rise in temperature and will eventually boil. 

The Islamists are boiling our frog and though this blog and hundreds like it record almost daily the rise in the Jihad temperature, unless we see how far and fast the temperature has risen, we will not know how far along our boiling has progressed. 

So, the Gathering Storm will be posting only once a week but these weekly posts will take the Jihadist temperature by looking back at news and events over the last two years. Over the next several weeks in the areas of intimidation, infiltration, disinformation and those appeasers and apologists who either knowingly or unknowingly advance the Jihad agenda, the Gathering Storm will show how far our frog has been boiled. 

By seeing the boiling water around us, we can see how far the boiling has progressed. 

The good news is that we are noticing that the water is getting warmer. There is a glimmer of awareness here - a glimmer of hope there. But we have a long way to go.

Storm Track Disinformation: CAIR - Promoting Ideology Over Community

Blond Sagacity posted a biting blog on CAIR and its feud with the Fox Network over the TV show 24.

Making a show about modern day terrorism without using Muslims extremists would be like making a Mafia show and using Guatemalans. In fact, considering that almost every act of terrorism over the past 20 years was perpetrated by young radical Muslim males, when I see a show that doesn't have the balls to make the terrorist a Muslim I chalk it up to PC tripe.

Here’s what has CAIR’s burka’s in a bunch.

"..."The overwhelming impression you get is fear and hatred for Muslims," said Rabiah Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. She said Thursday she was distressed by this season's prem

iere. "After watching that show, I was afraid to go to the grocery store because I wasn't sure the person next to me would be able to differentiate between fiction and reality."

Ahem!! Excuse me!! Americans are quite able to distinguish between fiction and reality. Case in point is 9-11. There was only one incident of Muslim’s being attacked – and killed – and that was on a man wearing a turban who was not even Muslim – he was a Sikh. What Americans seem to be having trouble with is separating fiction from reality when it comes to statements from Islamist supporting organizations and individuals like CAIR.

Blond Sagacity gives examples.

• Urging Muslims to complain to ABC about Glenn Beck
• Urging Muslims to complain to Senator Boxer for rescinding an award to CAIR leader Basim Elkarra because of CAIR terror-ties
• Urging Muslims to contact post offices and complain enough Islamic stamps aren't readily available.
• And of course urging Muslims to complain about terror funding being questioned.

An interim report, from the Conservative Group on National and International Security - one of several policy groups set up by the UK Tory leader David Cameron, said that a "significant number" of Muslim organizations are "keener to promote ideology than the totality of the communities they claim to represent".

The fits CAIR to a ‘T’. But not all Muslims toe the CAIR line.

M. Zuhdi Jasser in the National Review Online writes:

The show also shows the darker, extremist side of Islam — for example, an Arab-Muslim youth, a previously beloved neighbor in suburban L.A., turns out to be a terrorist thug who provides a key part of the nuclear device while terrorizing

 his friend’s family. This is another, undeniable part of today’s Muslim reality: While suitcase nuclear devices have yet to be used, the threat is there, and such characters are probably quite true to life in their depiction of members of al Qaeda cells or other jihadist networks in the West.

So if this drama hits too close to home, perhaps offended Muslims should use this TV program as an emotional stimulus for change. To this point, the Muslim community has been able to completely avoid any real debate over Islamism. In fact, we see now a movement in England and the West to blame the West’s foreign policy as a root cause of terror rather than the real root cause — theocratic Islamist ideology.

It’s time for hundreds of thousands of Muslims to be not only private but public in their outrage — and to commit themselves to specific, verbal engagement of the militants and their Islamism. We, as American Muslims, should be training and encouraging our Muslim-community youth to become the future Jack Bauers of America. What better way to dispel stereotypes than to create hundreds of new, real images of Muslims who are publicly leading this war on the battlefield and in the domestic and foreign media against the militant Islamists.

There are Muslims and Muslim organizations that understand the true challenges faced by Muslims today and not willing to play the victim card at every turn of the deck. They understand there is an evil ideology out to Islamatize the world and bring it under the rule of Shariah law.

If CAIR really wants to contribute to America-Islamic relations, then they should pay a visit to the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. Zuhdi Jasser, an M.D., founded AIFD with a group of Muslim professionals in the Phoenix, Arizona. AIFD seeks to make a small contribution to the body of thought which articulates an understanding of Islam which separates religion and state and is in complete harmony with the U.S. Constitution and our citizenship pledge.

Dr. Jasser has it right.

Condemnations by press release and vague fatwas are not enough. We need to create organizations — high-profile, well-funded national organizations and think tanks — which are not afraid to identify al Qaeda, Hamas, and Hezbollah by name, and by their mission as the enemies of America.

If Muslim organizations and the American Muslim leadership were seen publicly as creating a national, generational plan to fight Islamism — rather than searching for reasons to claim victimhood — then the issues and complaints surrounding such TV shows would disappear. The way to fight the realities of 24 is to create a Muslim CTU, a deep Muslim counterterrorism ideology and a national action plan for our security.

Sounds like a plan to me. Any American Muslims out there ready to pick up on the suggestions of the AIFD?

Storm Track Disinformation: The War from the Perspective of a First Year Journalism Student

Christina Baucco is a freshman studying journalism at Butler University and wrote in DawagNet, their student news site, and article entitled War on Islam?

Whether we like it or not we may actually be in a war on Islam. Contrary to beliefs that we are not a totalitarian country, meaning we would not attack another country’s religion, we seem to be doing just that. The problem is that in the Middle East religion dominates people's private and public lives. As our government says we are fighting to establish a democracy they see us trying to overthrow their religion. This is what is causing the instability surrounding the war.

Notice her total lack of the Muslims attempting to force THEIR religion around the world. Not the other way around.

Some people believe that we have a right to this war historically. In many occasions it has been recorded that Islam was aggressive towards western culture and Christianity. But in the end doesn’t it ring with semblances of a playground fight. Doesn’t the phrase “I didn’t start this but I’m sure going to finish it” seem to summarize our right to this war? Is that the way we want to be viewed in our stance?

The answer? YES! What kind of action is demanded when the bully’s goal is to follow you home to complete the job?

I want to believe that we aren’t in this war to attack a religion. I want to believe that this war is about reform and not revenge.

No, Miss Baucco, we are not in this war for revenge. We’re in this war defending our civilization and way of life against a totalitarian theocratic ideology.

Perhaps if we were not trying to speed along our agenda in establishing a democracy and instead slowly fought to bring about the idea that we aren’t in a war on Islam but on a quest of reform perhaps this war would not have the criticism it has so far known but maybe the support that it deserves.

If Miss Baucco had been more attentive in her ‘History of Western Civilization’ class (I wonder if the still teach that in college these day?) she would have learned that reform of an ideology does not come from without. It comes from within. Ideologies are destroyed from without, reformed within.

This freshman journalism student needs to learn more about the world but so far it seems she’s been well indoctrinated into the main stream media’s ideology of the Left.

Storm Track Disinformation: Muslim Cleric Nixes Valentine’s Day

Could Islam get any more constipated? Not that fundamental Christians who believe the celebration of Halloween is an act of devil worship are any better. Still it’s entertaining to see such narrow mindedness revealed for what it is.

The current issue of Islam Q & A has issued a 7,535 word treatise on the evils and dangers of St. Valentine’s Day. Hat tip to Sweetness & Light.

Here are some excerpts from the treatise.

Allaah has forbidden imitation of the kuffaar…..Allaah tells us in the Qur’aan that imitating and obeying the kuffaar may constitute riddah (apostasy). Allaah also forbids following them, obeying them, or following their whims and desires and bad characteristics.

The purpose of Valentine’s Day in these times is to spread love between all people, believers and disbelievers alike. Undoubtedly it is haraam to love the kaafirs…It is a mistake to confuse what they call the day with what the real intentions are behind it. The love referred to on this day is romantic love, taking mistresses and lovers, boyfriends and girlfriends. It is known to be a day of promiscuity and sex for them, with no restraints or restrictions…

It takes a twisted mind to see innocence as evil.

They are not talking of pure love between a man and his wife or a woman and her husband, or at least they do not distinguish between the legitimate love in the relationship between husband and wife, and the forbidden love of mistresses and lovers. This festival for them is a means for everyone to express love…

Wow!! I didn’t know I was such a pervert sending a Valentine’s card.

Love in Islam is more general and more comprehensive; it is not restricted only to one kind of love, that between a man and a woman. There are many more kinds of love. There is the love of Allaah, love of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them), love for good and righteous people, love and support for the religion, love of martyrdom for the sake of Allaah.

Umm…don’t forget the love between an adult male and his child bride. Then the cleric quotes these stats as proof of the dangers of non-Muslim love.

Now let us look at the state of affairs in western societies where Valentine’s Day is celebrated, and ask, what is the state of marriage relationships in those societies, and do these celebrations have any positive effect on interactions between husbands and wives?

Their own studies and statistics show the following:

1 - In an American study done in 1407 AH/1987 CE, it states that 79% of men beat their womenfolk, especially if they are married…! (al-Qabas newspaper, 15/2/1988).

2 - A study carried out by the National American Office for Mental Health states the following:

- 17% of women who go to emergency rooms are victims of beatings by their husbands or boyfriends.

- 83% of those who have previously been admitted to hospital at least once for treatment of injuries, were admitted as a result of beating.

The study added that there are more women who do not go to hospital for treatment, but deal with their injuries at home.

3 - In a report of the Central American Agency for Examination [FPT] it states that every 18 seconds there is a woman who is beaten by her husband somewhere in America.

4 - American Time magazine stated that around 4,000 wives out of approximately 6 million who are beaten die as a result of that beating.

5 - In a German study it said that no less that 100,000 women annually are exposed to acts of physical or psychological abuse on the part of thei

r husbands or the men they live with. The real figure may exceed one million.

6 - In France, approximately 2 million women face beatings.

7 - In Britain, in an opinion poll in which 7,000 women took part, 28% of them said that they had been subjected to attacks by their husbands and boyfriends.

Curiously missing is any mention of Muslims beating their wives.

Storm Track Disinformation: The Myth of Muslim Support for Terror

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master—that's all."

The leftist Kenneth Balien writing in the Christian Science Monitor has made those words no truer than Humpty Dumpty’s. For it’s the twisting of words that he was so adept at.

Those who think that Muslim countries and pro-terrorist attitudes go hand-in-hand might be shocked by new polling research: Americans are more approving of terrorist attacks against civilians than any major Muslim country except for Nigeria.

How does he come to that conclusion? By twisting words to his advantage.

The survey, conducted in December 2006 by the University of Maryland's prestigious Program on International Public Attitudes, shows that only 46 percent of Americans think that "bombing and other attacks intentionally aimed at civilians" are "never justified," while 24 percent believe these attacks are "often or sometimes justified."

Contrast those numbers with 2006 polling results from the world's most-populous Muslim countries - Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. Terror Free Tomorrow, the organization I lead, found that 74 percent of respondents in Indonesia agreed that terrorist attacks are "never justified"; in Pakistan, that figure was 86 percent; in Bangladesh, 81 percent.

Notice the clever way the survey equates the civilian casualties as a result of a war to the deliberate killing of civilians by terrorists. This underhanded attempt at equating the targeting of civilians by terrorists with the necessary implementation of destroying the ideological support of the enemy nation is nothing short of blatant lying.

But of course, the far Left always sees a free democratic nation trying to defend itself and others as terrorism. The leopard’s spots never change.

Public opinion surveys in the United States and Europe show that nearly half of Westerners associate Islam with violence and Muslims with terrorists. Given the many radicals who commit violence in the name of Islam around the world, that's an understandable polling result. But these stereotypes, affirmed by simplistic media coverage and many radicals themselves, are not supported by the facts - and they are detrimental to the war on terror.

Oh really, lets look at the facts, Mr. Balien. From the Religion of Peace.

This list, of over 6,000 terrorist attacks committed by Muslims since 9/11/01 (a rate of about three or four a day), is incomplete because only a small percentage of attacks were picked up by international news sources, even those involving multiple loss of life. These are not incidents involving nominal Muslims killing for money or personal pride. We include attacks committed by Muslims out of religious duty - as interpreted by the perpetrator - that can be reasonably determined.

As it turns out, the “simplistic media coverage’ seems to have failed to cover all the attacks.

In truth, the common enemy is violence and terrorism, not Muslims any more than Christians or Jews. Whether recruits to violent causes join gangs in Los Angeles or terrorist cells in Lahore, the enemy is the violence they exalt.

And here we go again. Show us the record, Mr. Balien of Christians and Jews who are committing these common acts of violence around the world today.

The apologists and appeasers of Islamism never sleep.

Storm Track Disinformation: Muslims to World – “We Are the Victims”

The Islamists have learned well from their mentors – the Nazis – and are reading straight from their playbook.

One of the biggest Nazi lies of all was the lie that 

Germany was the victim of British and French humiliation (Germany’s defeat and crippling reparations), a Jewish conspiracy (international bankers, support for communism and sedition), the need for ‘lebensraum’ or ‘living room’ and the lack of resources to adequately feed and support their citizens (though there was no problem finding the national resources to rebuild the German war machine).

Claim you’re the victim and blame someone else for everything that’s wrong with the sorry state of your ideology. The bigger the lie the better (People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one, and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it - Goebbels).

The Islamists are well versed in the Big Lie and the art of disinformation and owe a lot to the Nazis as its use as a ‘softening up’ tool.

The Big Lie as propaganda device has a long and dishonorable history, gulling onto complacency those who prefer to avoid unpleasant worries. The Nazi propagandist Goebbels was its most notable practitioner, but for sheer numbers and historical roots, no other group can match the efforts of jihadist Muslims, with their religiously—sanctioned practice of deceiving infidels to protect the faith.

Al—Jazeera aired on March 24, 2006, a rather chilling, one—sided 'dialogue' between representatives of Arab and Danish student organizations who met in Damascus, ostensibly to discuss the violent worldwide Muslim reactions following publication of the Muhammad cartoons by the Danish paper Jyllands—Posten.

Ahmad Al—Shater, Chairman of the Arab Students Union, and his Sudanese Student Union colleague 'Muhammad,' were unremittingly truculent in their presentations, which melded classic taquiyya (sanctioned dissimulation of Islamic doctrine to 'protect' the faithful), or sheer ignorance, Muslim Jew—hatred, and a Goebbels—like distortion of contemporary events, including the requisite conspiratorial Judenhass (Jew—hatred).

That was in March of last year. Here is a more recent example of the Big Lie of the Islamists.

The United States and its foreign policies have come under fire at a conference on relations between the U.S. and Islam, with figures like suicide bombing apologist Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi accusing America of responsibility for Muslims' animosity.

Yep. We woke up one day and said, “Let’s get the Muslims stirred up.” Not that it mattered that 3000 Americans were killed don 9-11 or that others died in the WTC bombing 10 years before.

Then there’s this little ditty on how our culture is harming Muslims from Western Australia.

WA’s highest court has rejected a young Muslim man’s argument that he deserved a reduced sentence on drug charges because his cultural background made him vulnerable to drug dealers in WA’s “excessive” Western lifestyle.

Bilal “Bobby” Vagh, 22, claimed his strict Muslim upbringing made him naive and he got involved in drugs only after he came “under the thrall” of a charismatic young WA drug dealer who befriended him.

He submitted factors including that he came from a closed, strict Muslim family, a non-drug, non-alcoholic background and ended up in an excessive Western lifestyle.

Ah, yes. If you can’t get away with a lie, then refuse to take responsibility for your actions.

But the Court of Appeal upheld the six-year jail term given to Vagh for dealing speed, LSD and ecstasy, backing District Court Judge Shauna Deane’s finding that he made an informed decision to deal drugs and was responsible for his actions.

Storm Track Disinformation: Beware of the Christian Jihad?

One of the tactics of the appeaser or apologist is the use of disinformation. They use this tactic deliberately or even without their knowledge as useful idiots. In this case, it’s a deliberate attempt to paint the Judeo-Christian culture as the enemy of civilization.

Robert Spencer from JihadWatch writes in the Assyrian International News Agency:

A new book that is climbing the New York Times Bestseller List warns Americans of a dedicated minority of religious fanatics who are hijacking a great religion and actively working to destroy the United States Constitution and set up a theocracy in America, in which nonbelievers will be discriminated against or even summarily killed. Nor is their nefarious vision confined to the United States alone: this small but influential and wealthy band of religious zealots is also trying to turn events in the Middle East to their own advantage, so as to advance their religious agenda there also.

Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Muhammad Atta? No, James Dobson, Pat Robertson, and Tim LaHaye. The book in question is Chris Hedges' American Fascists, which argues that America as we know it is under threat -- not from Islamic jihadists, but from a small group of evangelical Christians who are determined to remake the United States as a Christian state.

That’s right, it’s not the Islamists and their jihadist tactics, both violent and non-violent, who are the enemy, but that Bible church down the street and the Trinity Broadcasting Network. This kind of misdirection is a tried and true tactic of real fascists like the Nazis who used it successfully to soften-up their victims and rot their ability from within to mount a defense against the invading ideological horde.

The threat is imminent. Hedges claims that "those arrayed against American democracy are waiting for a moment to strike, a national crisis that will allow them to shred the Constitution in the name of national security and strength." He even asserts that "those in the movement often speak about such a moment with gleeful anticipation." For now -- but only for now -- the Christian Right is "forced to function within the political system it seeks to destroy."

Notice the use of words and his total lack of understand

ing of the real threat before us. Like all useful idiots, Mr. Hedge is blind to the many non-violent jihads that the Islamists are using to gain power and implement Shariah law in the non-Muslim world. They are currently "forced to function within the political system it seeks to destroy" and CAIR and the MAS are excellent examples. Here’s an actual theocrats who threaten to “shred the Constriction” that Hedge and his cronies seem to be blind to.

Before he left Britain one step ahead of law enforcement and returned to his native Lebanon, the jihadist Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad often boasted of his intention to "transform the West into Dar Al-Islam" and establish Islamic law on British soil. "I want to see the black flag of Islam flying over Downing Street," he said, and his now-disbanded al-Muhajiroun group was dedicated to this goal. The transformation of Britain into an Islamic state could come in two ways, he explained: "if an Islamic state arises and invades," in which case "we will be its army and its soldiers from within." But if no such Islamic state arises, Bakri said that Muslims would convert the West to Islam "through ideological invasion...without war and killing."

Mr. Hedge ignores the reality of the real “ideological invasion” that is taking place right under his nose everyday in the non-Muslim world. Here are just a few happening just last week from my current Gathering Storm Weekly Storm Report Newsletter:

So, who’s really doing the invasion, Mr. Hedge?

Should we turn our attention away from a real threat to an imagined one? That is what Chris Hedges and the other anti-theocracy writers are asking us to do. While fiction has always competed with reality in the public discourse about the Islamic jihad, the Christian theocracy scare books represent projection on a massive scale.

Quit hunting Christian theocrats under your bed, Mr. Hedge and stop sounding your ill-conceived warnings against “Chritianism”. As a true useful idiot you are aiding the misdirection of our attention from the much larger theocratic threat that is well on its way to reaching its global objectives – Islamism.

Storm Track Disinformation: The More Things Change, the More They Remain the Same

It’s no secret that America is reviled by Europe because of a culture that is exported throughout the world. Europe sees America imposing its values and mores on a resistant world. America sees European culture in decay and asks what right does America have imposing its culture on Europe and the rest of the world.

Thomas Kleine-Brockhoff, who writes for the German Weekly Die Zeit, posted the following on his blog.

So you think it's ludicrous, it's outlandish, it's just plain nuts to assume that the United States is more dangerous than Iran? Well, think again. Three weeks ago Russian President Putin attacked the American goliath at a security conference in Munich. On its website, my newspaper analyzed the speech saying:

"It was nothing less than the attempt to re-erect an old world order, an order in which the American superpower is contained by the power of other states, by the rule of international law and strategic considerations of its alliance management".

Putin was quoted as saying: "Nobody in the word feels safe". According to the analyst at my paper, Putin’s statements were "rammed into world history".

The author concluded by writing: "As of today, nobody in the West has any reason to feel at ease." Immediately after the publication of this analysis, readers started a debate. I counted close to 70 comments.

Here are some samples.

• One reader argues that Putin's "critical assessment" was "appropriate". Another finds Putin spoke "in the name of all mankind".
• Putin "disclosed" the "illegal ventures" of the West and "unmasked" Western leaders, primarily Americans, as "dangerous outlaws".
• A third reader finds: "The United States are not a role model, but a sick moloch".
• Reader number four states that the problem is not Putin, but Bush. He "has to go, immediately."
• Reader number five argues that the only individuals who might feel threatened by Putin "have been completely indoctrinated by American fantasies".
• Consequently, this reader argues that Germany's armed forces should vacate the Mediterranean Sea and Afghanistan and all the places where "they support the American crimes".
• Reader number six said that "no person in his right mind can doubt that Putin is right on target".
• Reader number seven weighs in claiming that "countries like Russia and Iran" are the hope of all those who "suffer" from the American led military machine.
• Reader number eight notes that it is Europe's security interest to "stop offending Russia and the countries of the Islamic world".
• Reader number nine, ten and eleven agree. So do readers forty-seven and sixty-four.

If I didn’t know any better I’d say we were back in 1980 where Reagan’s attempts at defeating the threat of communist imperialism hung like a sword over all of free Europe’s head.

Maybe this is just a one-sided sample. Surely, not everybody in Germany feels this way. And most of the policy community certainly does not. On the other hand, DIE ZEIT is not a paper for ideologues; it is squarely middle-of-the-road. It is read by educated people, and has a wide circulation of 500,000 copies every week.Maybe we are getting a good look at anti-Americanism. Surely, Germany has quite a bit of that.

That fact ordinary citizens of European liberal democracies feel more threatened by America than Iran (or Putin’s Russia) is not just because of a lapse of judgment that can easily be dismissed. It is cause for alarm.

Look at this poster and see Anti-American propaganda at its best. The sign at the bottom of the poster reads “The USA wants to save European culture from decay. Based on what right?”

What year do you think it is? 1980, 1970, 1960 – Today?

Nope – 1944. Nazi occupied Belgium. Granted, it’s Nazi appeasement propaganda – but has little changed?

Those are examples of the rising Jihad temperature of for this week. When seen in groups like this, the slow boil becomes obvious.
