What This Blog Is About

"It is a mistake to try to look too far ahead. The chain of destiny can only be grasped one link at a time."
Winston Churchill

So we’re at war. At least that’s what we’re told. But do we really believe it? And are we at war with the right enemy? Unfortunately, no.

The administration and pundits that talk of war can not bring themselves to identify the real enemy or correctly define the war at all; frightened by the prospects of a clash of civilizations – a Holy War. Others will not even conceive of the threat against us lest it run counter to their ideological or politically correct beliefs. Those find comfort in this confusing struggle by believing the threat is nothing more than a band of brutal criminals and should be countered with civil rather than military action. They do not, or will not believe the real ideological objectives of militant Islam that confronts us. These elements of the Left think we should be conducting a criminal investigation. That it’s just a small minority of radical Islamists who should be caught and prosecuted for their crimes. On the other hand, the Right thinks we’re involved in a war against terror – they are both wrong.

So the reason for this blog.

This blog is about a Gathering Storm – the prelude to the real war, not the war itself. How the war will be fought and under what terms it will commence is yet to happen – and no, it didn’t start with 9-11. In more than one way, we are in a similar time as the 1930s. But this blog is not the first to find comparisons between the infiltration and intimidation tactics of militant Islam and Nazi Germany. In September of 2005, Tony Blankly wrote a three part series in the Washington Times comparing the Islamic threat of today to the Nazis of the 1930s.

Blankly writes that radical Islam or Islamic fascism, has all the advantages the Nazis had in Germany in the 1930s. A second and third generation Muslim population adrift and disconnected from their country, confused and humiliated by the dominance of foreign nations and culture, and a growing youthful population increasing disdainful of their parents passive acceptance of their plight. And just as the Nazis reached back to German mythology and the supposed Aryan origins of the German people, the radical Islamists reach back to the founding ideas and myths of their religious culture. And just like the Nazis, they claim to speak for authentic traditions while actually advancing expedient and radical innovations. The Islamo-fascist mullahs encourage young Muslims not to turn to their parents for guidance. The Nazis overwhelmed German society with these methods 70 years ago. There is building evidence that the radical Islamists are moving ever more successfully down the same path - particularly within the younger generations in Europe and, to a lesser extent, in the United States.

This blog will not concern itself with the ongoing ideological debates on whether Islam is this or that, what was practiced then now or any other times, or what interpretation of the Islam and their motives is correct or not. Let those chips fall where they may. That debate will cease when the war arrives – succinct, clear and with a focused objective - as it did for Europe on September 1st, 1939 and America on December 7th, 1941.

What’s important now is to expose the events of recent history and how they are contributing the Gathering Storm of the coming war and perhaps, just perhaps, by understanding them, we may be able to temper, though not prevent, the final struggle when it comes. Yes, the military experts have defined this war as something unique and different from those fought in the past. I don't agree.

The Islamists are using an age old tactic of guerrilla warfare - its use of the Viet Cong by the North Vietnamese is a recent example. We call it terrorism today. But the objective is the same. Weaken the opposition using surrogates by hitting them where it’s difficult or impossible to respond. Then follow up with conventional forces from the host nations that supported the insurgency – not just in Iraq but throughout the free world - with uniformed combatants. The Islamic terrorists – or in other words the global insurgents – are being supported by Islamic states with financial support (Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other Islamic countries – even the EU and the US who send money to the PLO), safe havens for planning (Pakistan), propaganda (Al Jazeera, Saudi funding of mosques), and mosques as recruiting and command and control centers (Wahabi funding by Saudi Arabia).

The real war will ensue once the host nations feel it’s time to commit their organized military combatants in a final push to defeat the free world – or if some event forces the free world’s hand against the host nations. But that’s in the future.

To understand the storm that’s gathering around us, we need to put its elements into some context. For this we turn to history. The two major conflicts of the 20th century were World War II and the Cold War. The enemy confronting the free world used a ‘softening up’ process that was very successful in lulling the free world into hopeless inaction. This softening up process was used by Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan to great success. For when war finally came, the free world was caught unawares and at a dangerous disadvantage. The worldwide communist movement of the Cold War learned from Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan and used similar tactics to advance their ideology.

But for our purposes here, we will use the architects of this modern day ‘softening up’ strategy to expose the threatening events that make up the Gathering Storm. We will compare the events of the 1930s with today’s events and how they easily fit into a similar context of today. The two periods, the 1930s and today, and the softening up of the Free World as a prelude to war, will be followed in the following areas.

All these softening up elements that make up the Gathering Storm of war will become an ongoing diary in this blog to expose this softening up progress as reported in today’s media, the Internet and the blogosphere.

In addition, I'll post from time to time information on the shape of the war to come under the Winds of War.

Finally, Enemy Mine, will track the modern day Leftist behavior in this blog and how it threatens the iconic ideology of Islam and show why, in their world, Islam feels threatened and perhaps we should show some restraint in the expression of our freedom of license and temper it with more responsibility.

As Santayana said, “Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

  • The much larger threat is from within. The Military Industrial Complex.

The U.S. Department of Defense, headquartered in the Pentagon, is one of the most massive organizations on the planet, with net annual operating costs of $635 billion, assets worth $1.3 trillion, liabilities of $1.9 trillion and more that 2.9 million military and civilian personnel as of fiscal year 2005.

It is difficult to convey the complexity of the way DOD works to someone who has not experienced it. This is a massive machine with so many departments and so much beaurocracy that no president, including Bush totally understands it.

Presidents, Congressmen, Cabinet Members and Appointees project a knowledgeable demeanor but they are spouting what they are told by career people who never go away and who train their replacements carefully. These are military and civil servants with enormous collective power, armed with the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Defense Industrial Security Manuals, compartmentalized classification structures and "Rice Bowls" which are never mixed.

Our society has slowly given this power structure its momentum which is constant and extraordinarily tough to bend. The cost to the average American is exhorbitant in terms of real dollars and bad decisions. Every major power structure member in the Pentagon's many Washington Offices and Field locations in the US and Overseas has a counterpart in Defense Industry Corporate America. That collective body has undergone major consolidation in the last 10 years.

What used to be a broad base of competitive firms is now a few huge monoliths, such as Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and Boeing and SAIC. If you would like to read how they control our government, please see:

Government oversight committees are carefully stroked. Sam Nunn and others who were around for years in military and policy oversight roles have been cajoled, given into on occasion but kept in the dark about the real status of things until it is too late to do anything but what the establishment wants. This still continues - with increasing high technology and potential for abuse.

Please examine the following link to testimony given by Franklin C. Spinney before Congress in 2002. It provides very specific information from a whistle blower who is still blowing his whistle (Look him up in your browser and you get lots of feedback) Frank spent the same amount of time as I did in the Military Industrial Complex (MIC) but in government quarters. His job in government was a similar role to mine in defense companies. Frank's emphasis in this testimony is on the money the machine costs us. It is compelling and it is noteworthy that he was still a staff analyst at the Pentagon when he gave this speech. I still can't figure out how he got his superior's permission to say such blunt things. He was extremely highly respected and is now retired.

The brick wall I often refer to is the Pentagon's own arrogance. It will implode by it's own volition, go broke, or so drastically let down the American people that it will fall in shambles. Rest assured the day of the implosion is coming. The machine is out of control.

If you are interested in a view of the inside of the Pentagon procurement process from Vietnam to Iraq please check the posting on this blog entitled, "Odyssey of Armaments"

  • We'll be glad to have the "military complex machine" when the war with Iran, etal begins.

Besides. Can't we use George Bush's secret hurricane machine against the isslamists? Silly moonbat.

  • That was really good.

  • WC, you can delete this message. I just wanted to say that the last few paragraphs of this excellent description of your site and purpose need a few editing tweaks. Here is your writing, and my edits are in bold in paragraphs:

All these softening up elements (that) make up the Gathering Storm of war will become an ongoing diary in theis (this) blog to expose this softening up progress as reported in today’s media, the Internet and the blogeshere (blogosphere).

In addition, I'll post from time to time information on the shape of the war to come under the Winds of War (maybe this could be a link).

Finally, Ememy Mine (is that spelled right? and maybe it should be a link), will track the modern day Leftist behavior in this blog and how it threatens the iconic ideology of Islam and show why, in their world, Islam feels threatened and perhaps we should show some restraint in the expression of our freedoms and temper it with more responsibility.

I didn't really understand that last sentence.

I love this article and I'm going to be linking to it a lot.

  • This article is excellent and to the point. But I see a point not really being discussed: enemy use of oue own country's media to "soften us up" for the kill.

The media corporations that own and control the western democracies' media are being bought up (via shares of stock in the stock market) in large enough quantity by Muslim jihadists to have an impact on how the news is presented to the public and what news can be aired (as what type of underwear is worn by Britney Spears) and what can't (Barack Obama lied to the American public about not being a Muslim when in fact he is).

The Muslim infiltrationof the US media must be brought under control ASAP. And we need more articles honing in on THIS ASAP TOO!

  • Interesting blog concept. Can't wait to see where you take it. For now though, I would only hope you add the very real possibility that in modern warfare, the enemy is actually a manufactured necessity to further the goals of the Military Industrial complex.

The MIC and the Elite learned a very valuable lesson, (maybe they already knew it but now we're catching on) that in order to continue to rule, they must have a 'bogeyman'. Since the demise of the USSR our MIC went into a panic because there were none to threaten the populace with and ergo we heard of 'Peace dividends'. Government spending on domestic projects instead of war materiel and things of that nature.

If things continued apace, why the very people themselves might very well jump to the conclusion that we didn't NEED to be the world's policeman and that just wouldn't do.

We jump then to a couple of buildings that were in in dire need of mandated by the EPA asbestos removal or be torn down, both scenarios would've cost more than could feasibly be recovered in a declining rent scenario, coupled with the need for a credible (if not examined too closely) 'enemy' and voila, the table is set for such a rapid expansion of the MIC, Police State control and all brought about by a fearful populace. What more could a globalist ask for?

But something very wrong happened along the way. The Ponzi scheme of government and Wall Street collusion came apart and now we really are faced with 'a gathering storm'.

I hope that your blog evolves to take into account the probability that the 'storm' won't be against any Muslim extremists at all, rather it will be a Civil War. Maybe even true 'class war' as the hungry will find it far more preferable to eat the rich than scrounge like dogs. May be a fitting revenge as well after having their wealth, their retirement, their means of livelihood stolen by these elitists.

    Will be watching.

  • Everyone in the world hardly knowing it or feeling it works directly or indfirectlyto provide sustenance for the Arms Merchants and the Drugs Cartels. These two Evil organisations ride the hidden damp and dark corridors of power to determine and place in position cronies to sit in those positions of power. The cronies - very visible if inspected closely - are beholden to these two groups of merchants of death and sufferings throughout the known world.

Abandon Wars and most Leaders will crumble. The Islamists and Jihadis will have no cause for war except to see that their Caliphate comes through. History is replete with masses of people beingh cheated by groups that came into political power. By then it was too late.

Legalise drugs and make them available like alchohol and beer and the Drug Barons, Pushers, Middlem,en, Politicians at every level, Police and Narcotic forces will all crumble. Addicts can be treated in the same way as Alchoholics. Governments make a lot of money from alchohol taxes and bars. Why the staying away from Drugs. Because the Politicians need the Drug Cartels for their evil ends.

I have just read about the fate that came about on the 56 men who signed the American Declaratyion of Independance. Can we findf such men in this age of what Hindus call the 'Age of Kaliyuga"/
