The Gathering Storm Is One Year Old Today

One year ago, I started the Gathering Storm blog hoping to add to the discussion of the Islamist threat before us. In celebration of my first year I decided to post the first two blogs I wrote. Funny – how little has changed in 12 months.

Media Jihad: Comedy Central Folds Under Islamic Threat

I not a big fan of South Park which has been showing on the Comedy Central Network for the last couple of dozens years. I do watch it on occasion because they have the courage to gore just about every sacred cow out there today. So when I heard that they were doing a two part series on the Mohammed cartoon flap and were going to actually show the controversial Mohammed cartoons, I tuned in to see.

Alas, when it came time to show the Mohammed cartoon – which was reported to be the cartoon of Mohamed with the lit bomb in his turban - Comedy Central censored it out. When a fan wrote the network for an explanation on why they chickened out, the network execs were pretty truthful (they feared for their personal safety from Muslim fanatics) explaining their decision in a letter to their fans.

The kicker in the letter was this:

"Comedy Central's belief in the First Amendment has not wavered, despite our decision not to air an image of Muhammad..."

Huh?!

As one blogger said, “Their letter should have read, ‘Comedy Central's belief in the First Amendment has one glaring exception, we believe in the First Amendment as long as you don't threaten us, otherwise we'll go hide under a rock and whimper’

And this just in, Police in Jakarta, Indonesia brought in the editors of Playboy Indonesia for questioning as the toned-down version of the U.S. men's magazine said it might stop publishing in the world's most populous Muslim nation because of protests. The row over Playboy is part of a larger debate in Indonesia over the role Islam should play in public life. The country is traditionally moderate and secular, but in recent years has seen the emergence of a vocal conservative fringe who want to make the country an Islamic state and see themselves as arbiters of public morality.

Chalk up another one for Dhimmitude.

Cultural Jihad: Toilets & Battered Babies

From the BBC. "Jail toilets face away from Mecca".

I guess sitting on the throne has a new meaning – especially when appeasing the Islamists. Facilities in a re-furbished prison at Brixton jail in south London are being built so Muslim inmates do not have to face Mecca while sitting on the toilet. Islamist faith leaders had told prison bosses it was unacceptable for Muslim inmates to face Mecca while using the toilet.

"The refurbishment has been carried out with due consideration for all faiths", a Home Office spokeswoman said.

Yeah – and whose faith gets the consideration – AGAIN?

And then from the Times Online comes this doozy. A Bangladeshi woman, Rahella Khanom, 24, shook a baby boy so violently that he suffered brain damage. She was granted leniency by the court and walked free because a judge conceded that - now get this - she did not know how to behave in the West.

The injuries inflicted on the child over several weeks had caused one side of his brain to shrink. It was believed that the boy would have been screaming in agony for eight weeks because his injuries went untreated.

Khanom, from Poplar, East London, said that she had wanted to purge the baby of evil spirits as it cried and cried. The court found her not to be mentally ill and said that Khanom, a Muslim, did not understand that shaking a helpless baby would not exorcise an evil spirit. I guess the non-Muslims seem to know the following – but Muslims get a pass. This is not just ignorance of the law, but ignorance itself – then upheld by the court.

Judge Rodney McKinnon told Khanom: Normal and right-minded people will be horrified by this. Everybody must recognize how serious it is to treat children in this way and to use violence.” (Everybody but poor Muslims living in the West) But the judge said that Khanom’s strong cultural and religious beliefs, and the fact that she had been forced by her husband to live in isolation since coming to Britain from Bangladesh, meant that there were exceptional circumstances in her case. (I wonder if the dhimmi judge would give a pass to immigrants from the deepest parts of the Amazon jungle that came to London and practiced their cultural rituals of cannibalism!)

He said:

“You are a young lady who came from Bangladesh. You lived there in a rural community, adopting the customs and ways of the people there so that getting to know the ways of living in the West and in this country were not easy. I accept you were kept really quite isolated from our society by your community (and her husband family) and it would seem to a large extent by your husband as well. (According to the Islamic Law of Sharia) Under these circumstances I do not feel it is in the public interest to pass an immediate custodial sentence.”

The appeasement of the apologists never ceases.

  • Isn't it amazing how the gov't and its elites give a pass to all the horrors of Islam. Why? And comedy central hid under a rock, no doubt about it. The West is so scared of Muslims.
