Winds of War: Bush Wants Terror War Czar?!

I wonder if the strain of office is taking its toll on President Bush. The Washington Post reports that he is out looking for a War Czar.

The White House wants to appoint a high-powered czar to oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with authority to issue directions to the Pentagon, the State Department and other agencies, but it has had trouble finding anyone able and willing to take the job, according to people close to the situation.

Wait a minute. Isn’t that the Commander in Chief’s job? Has Bush taken outsourcing to a new level? This is absurd and those that were approached for the position said so.

At least three retired four-star generals approached by the White House in recent weeks have declined to be considered for the position, the sources said, underscoring the administration's difficulty in enlisting its top recruits to join the team after five years of warfare that have taxed the United States and its military.

"The very fundamental issue is, they don't know where the hell they're going," said retired Marine Gen. John J. "Jack" Sheehan, a former top NATO commander who was among those rejecting the job.

I couldn’t have said it better. I’ve blogged on the uselessness of fighting an enemy and allowing it to have sanctuaries that our generals are not allowed to touch. I’ve written time and time again that you fight in a theater of war and that the only way to win is to destroy the enemy where it resides and where its supported.. We have allowed the enemy to have sanctuaries in Syria, Iran and Pakistan and like the Vietnam War that had enemy sanctuaries in North Vietnam and Cambodia, and the Korean War which had sanctuaries in China which we were not allowed to invade and control, the jihadists can seek support and protection on every border of Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is a recipe for defeat.

Combine this strategy with rules of engagement that prevent the utter destruction of the enemy and you have the defeat of Israel in its 2006 war with Hezbollah and our eventual defeat in Iraq.

And now Bush wants to shift the responsibility of these mistakes unto a War Czar who refuses the position because they don't know where the hell they're going”.

Wake up Mr. President and learn the true nature of the enemy we face. It’s an ‘ism’ – Islamism. It’s an ideology that needs to be defeated not just terrorism. It’s in our homeland now under the guise of organizations like CAIR and those who want to install Sharia law on our society. It’s those appeasers and apologists who hate America and are willing to side with an enemy that will target them first for termination when they achieve power.

Wake up Mr. President before it’s too late.
