Storm Track Intimidation: Soup, Scorpions and Muslims

A recent court French court’s decision made me think of the old story of the scorpion and the turtle. It goes like this:

One day a scorpion stood at the edge of a pool, wanting to get to the other side. Along came a turtle to which the scorpion posed the question, "Would you give me a ride across the pond?"

"Of course not," mumbled the slow witted turtle.” For as surely as I give you a ride on my back you will bite me!"

"No. I promise. O won't bite you," said the scorpion.

He hopped atop the turtle and their journey began, about three quarters of the way across the pond the scorpion raised his poisonous tail and thrust it with all his might, right through the shell of the turtle, giving him a sting of death.

"But you promised not to bite," said the saying turtle. "Why would you do such a thing, even jeopardizing yourself?"

The scorpion replied, "I'm a scorpion. It's what I do."

Now replace the scorpion with Muslim and you have the gist of the court case.

A French court ruled Tuesday that an organization with far-right links can continue offering pork soup to the homeless, rejecting police complaints that the food distribution was racist. Police banned the soup kitchen last month, arguing that the handouts discriminated against Jews and Muslims who do not eat pork on religious grounds. The administrative court said the distribution was "clearly discriminatory," but could not be stopped because the organizers offered to feed anyone who asked for help.

Of cource the left wing liberal mayor of Paris, of course, condemned the ruling.

"Faced by this initiative which stinks of xenophobia, I want once again to express city hall's desire to fight all forms of discrimination, racism and anti-Semitism," mayor Bertrand Delanoe said in a statement.

The group that handed out the soup in a jester of helping their fellow man earned the wrath of the left wing appeasers on two counts.

The food handouts are organized by a nationalist group called Solidarity of the French (SDF). It says its "pig soup," which uses pork fat for stock, is country fare much loved by French traditionalists.

If anything makes a French Islamist appeaser more upset is a right wing organization and defending a traditional French anything.

"No-one has ever been able to prove that anyone has been refused soup or clothes on the grounds of their religion or race," SDF lawyer Frederic Pichon told France Info radio after Tuesday's court decision.

What is it with Muslims? Even when you lend a helping hand, they bite it.
